I've never built a PC before, but I love PC gaming because I can play without subscription fees and mod games easily. My current laptop struggles with performance, especially when I try to run games like Minecraft with shaders. It's only got an integrated GPU and 16GB of memory, so I often have to lower the graphics settings to make anything playable. My PS5 performs really well, and I'm curious whether I could build or buy a PC with similar specs and price—as it can run games smoothly and has 1TB storage with 16GB of GDDR6 memory. Is it possible to get a PC at a similar price point without sacrificing performance, especially for modded games? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and I apologize if I sound clueless!

Currently, it’s tough to buy or build a PC that matches console specs for the same price. I'd recommend a budget starting around $900 to $1,000 at least, due to market prices. It’s been a real struggle lately to find decent components without spending a fortune.
Oof, I'm guessing this is due to the recent price hikes in RAM and other parts?
The cost to get into PC gaming has really shot up. Even buying components and peripherals gradually can be incredibly pricey. I doubt you can come anywhere near a PS5's price without sacrificing a lot for similar performance. I built mine for just under $2,000, and a prebuilt version is going for over $2,000 now.
To sum it up, consoles generally offer the best value for casual gamers because they can cut costs in ways that PCs can't. With the RAM prices being crazy right now, a decent low-end PC that performs better than a PS5 will run you $800 to $1,000, and that means you'll have to make a lot of compromises on components.
Hopefully, some company will notice the huge gap in the RAM market and start producing more affordable options!

That's true, especially if you also need to buy a monitor and peripherals. Unless you're looking at used parts or very budget-friendly components, it's hard to keep costs down.
