Need Advice on Upgrading My PC for Gaming

I'm looking to upgrade my very old PC, which I built about 8 years ago. It's struggling to run new games, so I've been relying on my Xbox, but I really want to play NIOH 3, and it's not available on Xbox. I don't want to own both an Xbox and PlayStation, so I'm considering upgrading my PC. I need to know the most cost-effective way to make my system capable of running NIOH 3 at steady 60 fps on medium-high settings. Here's what I have:

**Desktop Specs:**
- **Processor:** Intel Core i5-6600k CPU @ 3.50GHz
- **RAM:** 16GB
- **GPU:** Radeon RX 480 8GB
- **Storage:** 1TB SSD
- **OS:** Windows 10

**Laptop Specs:** (I've also tried running the game here, but it performs terribly)
- **CPU:** Intel i5-12450H 12th Gen
- **GPU:** Nvidia RTX 3050 4GB
- **RAM:** 8GB
- **Storage:** 1TB SSD
- **OS:** Windows 11

I've attempted to run NIOH 3 on both systems, and the laptop can boot it, but it's unplayable at 30 fps on low settings. My desktop struggles just to get to the menu. I'd appreciate any tips on which rig to upgrade, what parts to look for, and specific recommendations. Thanks!

To play NIOH 3, you'll need at least an Intel Core i5-10400 or an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 for the desktop. Your RX 480 is behind the minimum requirement compared to the GTX 1060. If you look into getting a Ryzen 5 5500 with a compatible motherboard, you should see a big improvement. You could find those around $150 combined, and reusing your RAM will help reduce the costs further. If you overclock your GPU, you might get by, but upgrading the CPU and motherboard would be more effective.

You can definitely upgrade your laptop's RAM, since 8GB is pretty low for gaming nowadays. Aside from that, your desktop will require a more significant investment to run games optimally. Reusing your existing DDR4 RAM in a new AM4 or LGA1700 setup could save you some cash. An updated CPU, motherboard, and GPU would set you up nicely. What's your budget looking like for these upgrades?
