Is a 650W PSU enough for the RTX 5070?

Hey everyone! I'm considering installing an MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Gaming Trio OC 12 GB into my setup. My current power supply is 650W. I know that's on the lower end for this GPU, but I'm curious if it might harm the card or if the system will even boot up with it. Any insights?

A decent 650W PSU should work without issues, unless your entire system is super power-hungry. Upgrading to a high-end CPU or having multiple hard drives could change things.

I checked the manufacturer's sites and they all suggest a minimum of 650W. So, you're looking good there!

I've run an RTX 5070 on a 650W PSU with no issues at all. It’s capable enough!

You should be just fine with a 650W PSU for the RTX 5070. What's making you think it's not sufficient?

I'm just concerned about the PSU running smoothly and the potential for voltage surges.

It really depends on your CPU. If you're going with one of those newer Intel chips that use more power, it might struggle. But generally, the 5070 should operate fine. Just remember, undervolting can help with power draw and temperatures!
