Which RAM Should I Choose for My PC Build?

I'm almost done selecting parts for my PC, and the last piece I need to decide on is the RAM. I've got two options to consider: one is a 32GB DDR5 RAM at 6000MHz with a CL30 latency, and the other is also 32GB DDR5 but at 6400MHz with a CL32 latency. Both of these RAM options are priced similarly, and I'm building my system around a 7800X3D processor. Any recommendations on which one would be better for my setup?

I’d lean towards the first one with the CL30 at 6000MHz. That seems like the sweet spot in terms of performance versus latency. It should be really stable!

But remember, 30/6000 is pretty much equivalent to 32/6400 in performance. With DDR5 RAM, the difference is so minimal that even a cheaper 6000MHz CL36 option would work great for gaming. Plus, both will be compatible with your motherboard.

Just a tip, always check the compatible QVL list for your motherboard when picking RAM. It can save you a lot of headaches later!

Honestly, I’d just go with the cheaper option since they’re so similarly priced. You won’t really see a significant difference in performance between the two.

But they’re literally priced the same, so it might be worth considering the specs at least.

I went with the CL30 RAM for my 7800X3D setup and paired it with a Sapphire B850M Nitro+ motherboard. The stability has been fantastic, and they were actually cheaper than some other options and not listed as QVL.

I already bought my motherboard though; it’s the B850 Pro-A WiFi from ASRock. Hopefully, it’ll work well with whatever RAM I choose.
