I'm buying a new gaming PC that comes with a 9900X processor and an RTX 5080 graphics card. Unfortunately, all the builds with the newer 9800X3D CPU are sold out. I mainly use my current PC for gaming and do some minimal video editing and streaming. I play a wide range of games, such as Fortnite at 1080p and GTA, Forza, and others at 1440p. I also have a separate work PC, but I might need to run various programs on my new PC in the future, like AutoCAD and Adobe. I'm wondering if the 9800X3D would be better for my needs, especially with multitasking, and if it's worth selling my 9900X, which is essentially new. I think the sockets are the same, so swapping shouldn't require much, but I'm not too sure about that either. Any thoughts?

Honestly, if you're gaming at 1440p, your graphics card will impact performance more than a CPU upgrade. The 9900X is still a solid choice for most games, and depending on your monitor's refresh rate, you might not even notice a big difference.
