I recently upgraded to a new router, but I'm still experiencing really low download speeds. I built my own PC with a Ryzen 5 3600x, NVIDIA 1660 Super, Gigabyte B450M, a Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD, a 250GB SATA SSD, and 16GB DDR4 RAM. Whenever I try to download games or updates, the speeds are terrible. They often spike up to around 500 Mbps but then drop to 0 Mbps for a long time. This is incredibly frustrating because it makes downloading a lengthy process. I've tried several troubleshooting methods, but nothing seems to improve the situation. Could my hardware be outdated, or is there something else at play here?

Make sure nothing else on your network is hogging bandwidth when you're downloading. Also, checking the settings on your router could help. Sometimes QoS (Quality of Service) settings can optimize your speeds for specific applications or devices.
Have you considered what software you're using for downloads? Also, have you reached out to your Internet Service Provider? They might have insights on your bandwidth or if there are any issues in your area.
It sounds like the issue might be on the server's end rather than your hardware. Sometimes servers experience congestion, leading to slow download rates. It's a common problem, and unfortunately, not much you can do if it's server-related.
