I recently snagged an awesome deal on an RTX 4070 and I'm trying to figure out the best AM4 CPU to pair it with. Since I already have DDR4 RAM, sticking with an AM4 setup makes the most sense for my budget. Currently, I'm using a Ryzen 5 5500 and an older GTX 1660. I'd love to get recommendations on any other potential CPU or GPU upgrades as well!

You might want to go for the 5700X if gaming is your primary focus. It has more cores compared to the 5600X, which helps with games that rely on additional cores. Plus, they’re not much more expensive, so it could be a solid investment!

If you're looking at the 5800X, it's a great choice, but just be aware that it runs fairly hot. Some people suggest using water cooling, especially if you push it hard. Keep an eye on local prices though, it might be more cost-effective to grab a 5600X instead if budget is tight.

It really depends on how you plan to use your PC. If you're a gamer, any of the Ryzen 5000 series CPUs would be a good upgrade, especially models like the 5600, 5600X, 5700X, or 5800X. The 5500 can handle the 4070 decently, but for better performance, these options are definitely worth considering. Just keep an eye on the used market for better deals!
