Best Graphics Card for Gaming Under $300?

Asked By SkyeWalker93 On

I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card for some newer games. I currently have an AMD Ryzen 5 5600 processor, a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970, and 16GB of RAM. The games I'm really interested in playing include Elden Ring Nightreign, Monster Hunter Wilds, Oblivion Remastered, Silent Hill 2/F, and the upcoming Resident Evil. I'm not looking for anything too powerful or expensive, ideally something similar to what I have, and I'm hoping to spend around $200-$300. Any recommendations?

If you want to stay in budget, check out the RTX 3060 or RX 6600. They should handle those games decently well without breaking the bank. If you can find a used card like a RTX 3080, that would be a fantastic upgrade for around $300 if you're lucky! Just keep an eye out for deals.

Yeah, I second that! I've heard good things about the 3060. Just remember to check the VRAM — aim for more than 8GB for longevity! That’ll give you a better chance at running those demanding games well.

I'd say don't overlook the RX 6800. It's a powerhouse and if you look hard enough, you might catch one around $350 used. That's a solid card that will last through these demanding titles!

But remember to check the condition if you're buying used. Sometimes, they can be beaten up or have a rough history.

Honestly, if you can stretch your budget a little, go for a RX 6800 or a used RTX 4070. They offer great performance and should last you a while. But if you're really sticking to under $300, a new RX 6600 would still give you a good boost for those games!

Finding something new within that price range might be tough. I'd recommend looking for a used 6700 or 3070 if you can. They can sometimes go for under $300 if you shop around. Also, keep in mind that some games, like Oblivion Remastered, can be pretty unoptimized, so don't get your hopes too high on performance there!

Yeah, totally! And don't forget about checking local listings. You can sometimes snag great deals on used cards!
