Best CPU Upgrade Options for Ryzen 5 3600 Without Breaking the Bank

I'm considering upgrading my CPU but would prefer to avoid investing in AM5 due to current RAM prices. I've been eyeing different CPUs and noted that the 'x3d' models are quite rare right now. My goal is to run Escape from Tarkov more smoothly, so I'm looking for options that are A. budget-friendly and B. easy to return (essentially, I want to avoid used products). Do you think I should go for something like the R7 5800XT or the 5700X?

I’d suggest either the 5700X or the 5800X/5800XT. Honestly, the performance difference isn’t huge, so if you can grab the 5800XT for just a bit more—maybe $10-20—it's worth it without spending too much more cash.

Totally with you on this! This is solid advice.

I just upgraded from a 3600 to a 5700X and the difference was night and day! Definitely recommend the 5700X for its value if you can find it.

Hey there! I had the same setup and upgraded to the R7 5800XT since it was cheaper than the R7 5800X for me at the time. I also upgraded my GPU and now I’m getting great performance on a 3440x1440 ultrawide monitor—between 60-100 FPS on high settings! I’d recommend going for 8 cores since newer games demand more power.

Nice! Glad to hear you're happy with your setup—ultrawide is the way to go!

If you’re looking at options like the 5600X vs 5800XT, the latter is just slightly ahead—maybe 2% faster. But don't forget, Tarkov is more reliant on single-thread performance, so the extra cores might not matter much. If you find the Ryzen 7s around the same price as the 5600X, definitely go for them.

That makes sense! Glad to know the price point is favorable.

Really, whichever one you find cheaper should work. The 5800X and 5800XT are basically the same chip but with different power limits. If you’re just gaming, the 5600 and 5600X perform similarly to the 5700X, so consider your budget.
