I'm planning to upgrade to a Ryzen 7 9800X3D this month, but I've discovered that my current motherboard, the PRIME B550-PLUS AC-HES, only supports up to the Ryzen 5000 series. I'm looking for advice on how to properly upgrade my setup, as the videos I watched didn't cover the specifics. What steps should I take to upgrade my motherboard and CPU?

There's no way to use the 9800X3D with your existing motherboard, so you'll definitely need a new one. Also, don't forget about upgrading to DDR5 RAM since it’s required for the 9800X3D! Be sure to plan for those costs.
It can get pricey, but keep an eye out for sales; some stores occasionally offer discounts on RAM.
You'll need to get a new AM5 motherboard since your current one only supports AM4 processors. The Ryzen 9800X3D requires a motherboard that fits the AM5 socket, along with DDR5 RAM. Just a heads up, the upgrade might be more expensive than you think, especially with RAM prices right now.
I hear ASUS and MSI have some good AM5 motherboards. Just make sure to pick one that fits your needs!

Thanks for the clarity! I’ll make sure to consider the RAM while shopping for a motherboard.
