Issues with the Pound Symbol Turning into a Question Mark in Outlook

I've noticed a weird bug in Outlook for people in the UK using Office 365. When they insert the Pound symbol (£) into the body or header of their emails, it turns into a question mark (?) after the email is sent or printed. Has anyone else experienced this, or found any solutions?

I was curious if the method of input changes anything. Does using the Pound symbol from the keyboard compare to using ALT+156 on the numpad? I tried this on one workstation and both methods appeared correctly in a test email.

I'm in the UK, and I haven't had any issues. I just sent an email using the £ symbol, and it came through fine to both my personal and work email accounts.

Some users reported this issue starting last Friday across a couple of accounts. A good first step is to check your system settings like the locale and ensure that only the English (UK) language pack is installed.

I've seen this happen on several computers after the latest Outlook update, specifically when using 'send as' or 'sent on behalf of' emails. It looks fine in the compose area, but then it turns into a question mark in the sent items. A quick fix I've found is to add a space after the £ symbol, like '£ 755.00', and it seems to resolve the issue for now.
