Is a 240mm AIO Cooler Enough for a Ryzen 9800X3D Build?

I'm building a complete Aorus setup with a Ryzen 9800X3D and I'm trying to decide between a 240mm or 360mm AIO cooler. I'm considering the Gigabyte Aorus Waterforce X II models, but I'm not sure if I really need the 360mm, or if 240mm would be sufficient.

Instead of an AIO, check out the Thermalright Peerless Assassin or Phantom Spirit. Both offer great cooling capabilities for the 9800X3D and will save you some cash!

The 360mm cooler will definitely perform better, but honestly, for a Ryzen 9800X3D, a 240mm AIO will keep you cool enough, especially under normal conditions. If you prefer the look, that's fine, but both options seem a bit pricey to me. In fact, a solid air cooler could outperform many 240 or 280mm AIOs, so keep that in mind.

If you're tight on budget, dropping from a 360mm to a 240mm cooler isn’t the best call. You might want to consider a good air cooler instead. If it's not a budget issue, a 240mm cooler really only makes sense if you can't fit a 360mm in your case for some reason.

Are you going for cooler aesthetics or do you have a size limitation? There are many air coolers that can match or even surpass the performance of a 240mm AIO. The 9800X3D doesn't strictly require a 360mm cooler, but if you really want that look, go for it!
