Struggling to Update My GTX 1080 Ti Drivers, Need Help!

I've had a tough time updating my GPU drivers for the past two years because NVIDIA's software has been pretty frustrating. I own a GTX 1080 Ti, which should still be supported but has faced issues since the support ended last year. I'm unable to update my drivers; the NVIDIA app won't allow the installation due to the card being discontinued, and anytime I try a manual install, it fails and doesn't provide any error messages. My computer's performance has declined significantly, even crashing during games I've been playing for years. I'm looking for suggestions or solutions to fix this problem because it's really affecting my gaming experience. Thank you!

I'd suggest downloading DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to completely wipe all your existing GPU drivers. After that, you can try a fresh manual install without the NVIDIA software. It worked wonders for me!

Yeah, I did this an hour ago and it fixed all my problems too!

You can also visit the NVIDIA driver download page, type in your GTX 1080 Ti, and select the correct operating system version. Just download the driver directly and install it. This way, you bypass the app altogether.

Using DDU can be great! It allows you to remove everything thoroughly and reinstall the drivers from scratch without relying on NVIDIA's app, which seems to be unreliable for your situation.

Have you considered using NVIDIA's uninstall tool to clean up the old drivers before trying again? It might help sort out the issues you're facing.

I've had issues too; the recent updates seem risky. I just reinstalled Windows to start fresh, and it helped a lot.

It might be best just to stick with a working driver and avoid new updates unless they fix important security issues. Sometimes, newer updates break support for older cards, so being cautious may save you some trouble.
