Hey everyone! I came across a 5700X3D that's being sold as defective. The seller claims that when they install the CPU, their screen doesn't turn on. They mentioned they updated the BIOS and also tried it with another motherboard, but no luck. The pins look fine in the images. I'm wondering if there's any chance I could make this CPU work in my setup, or should I believe the seller that it's truly broken?

There’s always a chance of hidden damages—not just the pins. I once pulled a CPU off the socket and destroyed the memory controller, even though the pins were fine. It can happen, so just be careful.
Pins are just one possible failure point. If it’s cheap enough, it could be worth the gamble, but remember, a dead CPU is a dead CPU. It makes you wonder why they don’t just warranty it since it should still be covered.
Just because the pins look good doesn’t mean the CPU works. There can be other issues inside the chip that you can't see. Still, people do make mistakes with computer parts, so there's a slim chance it could work. Personally, I wouldn’t bet on it though.
If you’re getting it for a small amount like $20, it might be worth a shot. But honestly, if the seller has already tried multiple motherboards, it’s probably dead.
