Why Is My RTX 5080 Suddenly Overheating and Cranking Up the Fans?

I've noticed that my RTX 5080 has been acting strange lately. When I run games, even at medium load, the GPU's fans ramp up to full speed, and the temperatures spike above 80°C—even when I'm just in the menus. I've tried updating the drivers, but that hasn't fixed the issue. What could be going wrong with my GPU?

I've been using Afterburner to keep tabs on my GPU, and both fans are operational. However, I'm seeing temps hitting 85-87°C even during light gaming, especially when I enable DLSS DLAA or crank the settings to Ultra. It seems like something's not right!

How are you checking the temperature? If the fans are blasting at full speed, your GPU must sound like a jet engine! Just double-check that both fans are indeed spinning properly.
