Hey everyone, I'm looking to upgrade my GPU and need some advice. Here's my current setup: a Ryzen 5 5600X processor, 32GB of 3600MHz RAM, and I'm currently using a GTX 1650 with 4GB of VRAM. I've got a 27-inch 100Hz IPS monitor and a 750W Gold PSU ready for the upgrade.
I've come a long way from my first build with an i3-7100 and a GT 730, but the GTX 1650 is starting to hold me back, especially since I primarily play FPS games like Apex Legends and story-driven games like The Witcher 3. I plan to get a curved 1440p ultrawide monitor in the near future and want to make sure I can run games like GTA 6 at max settings with 90+ FPS.
I don't care much for ray tracing, as I've tried it on my brother's RTX 5070 Ti and didn't find the performance trade-off worth it. I'm aware that Nvidia's 40 series has Frame Generation, which makes it a strong contender for a future-proof option, but I'm also considering AMD cards since they're getting better with FSR.
With my current 4GB of VRAM, I'm thinking I should opt for at least 12GB going forward. I'm looking at options like the 6700 XT, 6800, 6800 XT, and the 7800. The 6700 XT is my minimum, but the 6800 and 6800 XT are slightly pricier with more power. The 7800 XT is significantly better but comes at a higher cost. Also, I'm not interested in Intel GPUs at all.
Since I have a budget limitation from part-time work, my questions are: Should I go for an AMD GPU over Nvidia? And which GPUs are worth considering that will still be relevant in 2026?

You seem to have a good grasp on the situation already! I would suggest checking the price-to-performance ratios of the available cards. Just remember that AMD's 6000 and 7000 series don't support the better FSR 4, which can affect image quality. For 1440p, I’d say aim for at least the 9060 XT or 5060 Ti if you can find them around MSRP. The RTX 4070 might also fit your needs but tends to be pricier than the 7800 XT.
First off, what's your budget and where are you located? Knowing that can help narrow down options!
I’m from Poland, and my budget is between 1200 PLN (~340 USD) to 2000 PLN (~560 USD).

So are you saying that getting the 9060 XT gives me better upscaling at the cost of some raw power compared to the 7800 XT? I’m fine with 60+ FPS for story games, but not sure about the impact on FPS games. My options seem to boil down to the RTX 4070, 7800 XT, or stretching for the 9060 XT. What do you think is the best route to take?
