Can I Repair My Phone’s Display Without Replacing the Screen?

I have a Samsung S21, and for no apparent reason, the screen just went black while I was using it. I didn't drop it hard or anything; I just placed it down for a bit, and when I picked it up again, the display was totally black, although the touchscreen still works. I've tried hard restarting the phone, but nothing has changed. The screen isn't physically broken since it responds to touch. Is there a way to fix it without changing the entire screen?

From what I know, some Samsung devices have a known issue where the display can go black due to pressure on the screen. If that's the case, unfortunately, it usually means that there’s an underlying problem with the display itself. Even if there’s no visible damage, it might need a replacement. It’d be worth checking with a repair service just to confirm.

I read that this can happen when a display connector gets stressed from pressure, which might be what's going on with yours. If there’s no visible damage and the touchscreen still works, there could be a chance to fix it by re-seating the connectors, but I’d recommend a professional to handle that.

It sounds like a frustrating situation! If your screen is still responsive but just black, there might be a connector issue, especially if you’ve pressed down on the screen a lot. Sometimes the internal connections can become loose. Have you tried connecting it to a computer or another display tool to see if it shows anything? If it’s just the display that’s acting up, a repair shop might be able to fix it without replacing the whole screen.
