I'm considering buying a used RTX 3070 Gaming OC for $200 that I found on a local Discord server. I built my first PC back in 2019 with a budget-friendly MSI Ventus XS OC 1660 Ti. Now, as a single mom, I'm still budget-conscious. Is this upgrade worth it? Should I negotiate the price? I've checked on PCPartPicker, and my system can handle the 3070.

Yes, it's a substantial upgrade!
Absolutely! The RTX 3070 is about 226% more powerful than the 1660 Ti according to techpowerup. I made a similar jump from a 2060 to a 3070 and was really pleased. Just keep in mind that while it has 8GB of VRAM, it could be a limitation if you're gaming at ultra-wide resolutions. Not sure about the price since I’m not in the US, though!
You're looking at a major upgrade here—two generations and a model leap! You should go for it.
That definitely sounds like a great upgrade!
For sure, it's significantly faster than the GTX 1660 Ti and that price is on the lower side for a used 3070. I'd definitely grab it unless VRAM turns out to be an issue for you!
Thanks for confirming!
I switched from that same 1660 Ti to a 3060 Ti a couple of years back, and it was a major improvement. The RTX 3070 is even more powerful than the 3060 Ti, so if the card is in good shape, it sounds like a sweet deal!
I still run my 3070, and it's been fantastic for me. Not planning to upgrade until I absolutely need to!

Thanks for the insight! PCPartPicker says a new one costs $800 in the US.
