Why is my new PC’s WiFi so slow compared to other devices?

Hey everyone, I just set up my new desktop PC and I'm facing a major issue with the WiFi speed. Even though I installed the WiFi antenna and it connects to my network, the internet speed is super slow—I'm only getting around 3.4 Mbps on this new PC. In contrast, my laptop and other devices in the same spot are clocking speeds over 50 Mbps. This is my first desktop build, so I might be overlooking something. I've tried some troubleshooting tips but I'm feeling stuck. Here are my PC specs: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, GIGABYTE B850 Gaming WIFI motherboard, 32GB DDR5 RAM, 2TB M.2 NVMe SSD, Windows 11, and more. I'm wondering if it's a driver issue, antenna malfunction, or maybe something in the motherboard settings. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like your WiFi signal might be weak, or your motherboard's WiFi can't handle the faster standards. It’s usually best to connect via Ethernet for a stable connection. If you can't do that, try using an older router with a decent signal and connect your PC to that with an Ethernet cable.

Definitely check the drivers for your motherboard's WiFi. Uninstall and reinstall them to see if that helps. Also, make sure the WiFi antenna that came with the motherboard is connected properly, as that can affect performance.

Don't forget to make sure you have the latest drivers installed. I'd also recommend unplugging and replugging the antenna just in case it's not seated properly. Minor adjustments can sometimes lead to big improvements!

Be sure to test your signal strength right from the PC. Sometimes the connectivity issues can be a loose antenna connection or the WiFi settings. Position your PC closer to the router temporarily to see if there's a difference.
