I have an Intel NUC5i3RYH with a Core i3 processor running Windows 11 version 21H2. Although it's reached its update limit, it still functions well as a Plex server and a retro gaming machine. I usually connect to it using Chrome Remote Desktop from my Mac, but recently I've been getting an "incompatible protocol version" error. I'm looking for user-friendly, ideally free, alternatives that I can also use from my iPhone. Any suggestions?

Windows Remote Desktop is pre-installed and works great if you're just using it within your home network. You can enable it by searching "Remote desktop settings" in the Windows Settings. Plus, there are clients available for almost all operating systems, so you should be set!
Have you checked out MeshCentral? It’s a reliable remote access solution accessible through a web browser. Just a heads-up, controlling it from a phone isn't the best experience, and running the server on an unsupported OS might not be ideal.
If you're planning to access it over the internet, I'd recommend switching to a version of Linux. This would let you use the latest Chrome Remote Desktop again or explore other options. Just be cautious about exposing unsupported OS versions to the web for security reasons.
