Should I Upgrade My Gaming PC or Just Buy a New One?

I received a Veno Scorp Gaming PC as a gift, and I was really excited to start using it. However, I quickly ran into problems with lagging and crashing when trying to play games. It's been frustrating since I started a gaming channel and I want a better experience. I'm wondering if it's possible to upgrade this PC or if it would be more beneficial to just get a new one. Here are the specs: Intel Core i3 (2nd Generation), 8GB DDR3 RAM, 500GB HDD, GT710 2GB graphics card, and the motherboard is from Veno Scorp. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

If you're looking to play modern games, your current setup isn't going to cut it. It’s just too old for that. Upgrading parts like the CPU or GPU won't get you anywhere substantial either since the motherboard is likely weak. I'd suggest looking for a new system instead.

So there's really no point in upgrading?

To be honest, this PC isn't worth keeping. You might be able to sell it for around $60, and for a decent gaming setup, you should budget about $1000 if you're buying used components. It's tough to get a good gaming PC with all new parts these days, so used might be your best bet!

Thank you so much for the help!

Honestly, I think it would be better to get a new PC. The hardware you've got is pretty much outdated, and trying to upgrade it wouldn’t be effective. Considering the age of the components, especially the graphics card, it's unlikely you'll see any good performance improvements. A fresh setup would serve you much better for gaming and streaming!

Could the GPU be replaced?

Yeah, that setup is definitely showing its age. Just go for a new build. Maybe check out some budget options if you’re tight on cash. Using second-hand parts could help you save a lot!
