When will we see native Linux support on ARM tablets?

I'm really impressed with what the SP8 Elite can do, and even the SP7+ Gen3 shows great potential. I'm new to this, but I have 12GB LPDDR5X, so I think Linux would run smoothly with KDE Plasma on it. I know I can only use an APK for Linux since I'm using it as an Android host. What APK should I use to run a Linux distro? Also, when can we expect to run Linux natively with a partition on ARM tablets?

Linux has actually been available for ARM devices for a long time! The challenge is that many manufacturers restrict installing different OSs. If you're keen on using Linux on a tablet, look into models like the PineTab or FydeTab Duo, which are designed for that.

The timeline for wider native Linux support really depends on demand. Most folks seem pretty satisfied with their current setups, preferring to stick with mainstream apps instead of exploring alternatives.

You can technically run Linux now! Android is a variant of Linux, so in a way, you’re already using it. But, if you're looking for a more traditional Linux experience, something like postmarketOS might be a good option for a POSIX-like system.

There are options out there! The PineTab is a noteworthy mention; it's an open-source tablet that runs various Linux distributions and is quite similar in design to the Pinebook. Although it’s aimed at hobbyists, it shows what's possible.
