Hey everyone! I've been having a weird issue with my PC while gaming. My specs are solid for older titles: I have an Intel Core i7-4510U CPU running at 2.00GHz, an NVIDIA GeForce 820M GPU, and 8 GB of RAM. I used to get around 100 to 140 FPS in games like Valorant and Minecraft, but now I'm locked at a frustratingly constant 40 FPS. It doesn't even budge to 41. Any ideas on what could be causing this sudden drop in performance?

It sounds like you've hit a performance ceiling! First, check if there are any recent changes since you last played, like software updates or new game versions. If you're running newer versions of games, they might be demanding more from your hardware. I'd recommend monitoring your GPU and CPU temperatures with HWMonitor and checking your HDD or SSD health with CrystalDiskInfo. If those are all good, it could be a corrupted Windows installation or background processes hogging your RAM. Also, if you’ve updated Windows lately, that can sometimes slow down older setups, too.
If you're not using any performance mods and the CPU can struggle with loading new chunks in Minecraft, that might hurt FPS too. But Valorant should still run fine.
I'll definitely check out the tools you mentioned and hope for some improvement!
