Hey everyone, I'm a gamer dad who's finally getting back into PC gaming now that my child is big enough. My current GPU, the 1080ti, is starting to struggle with new games at 1440p resolution. I'm looking for some budget-friendly upgrade options, ideally in the $300-$350 range. Thanks for any suggestions!

You can find both the RTX 3080 and the 6800 XT in your budget if you're willing to purchase used. The 3080 has better upscaling, while the 6800 XT gives you more VRAM, which can be beneficial. For most titles at 1440p, 10GB of VRAM should still serve you fine.

Honestly, if you're already at 1440p, dropping back to 1080p doesn't really help your situation. If you're looking for a better upgrade in the long run, maybe consider saving up for a 5070 or similar new card for better future-proofing.

Just a heads-up, I saw a 9060xt for $350 a couple weeks ago, but now they seem to be starting around $400. It might be best to browse for used options to stay within your budget.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I actually found a great deal on a used 3080, so I'm gonna give that a shot!

If you're open to used GPUs, the RTX 3080 is a solid choice that you can find between $200 and $350. There's even a possibility of snagging a 3080ti for around $400 if you look hard enough. Right now, new cards like the 5060ti are a bit pricey compared to what they used to be. Also, check out the 9060xt available at Micro Center for about $399 if you're leaning towards something new.
