Need Help! Can’t Enable BitLocker After RAM Upgrade

I recently upgraded my RAM on my Windows 11 system, and now BitLocker is giving me trouble. It started requesting the recovery key (which I have), so I decrypted my hard drive by turning off BitLocker. Now that I've done that, I don't want to use the recovery key anymore, which is a relief. However, when I try to set up BitLocker again by clicking "Turn on BitLocker," I get an error message saying, "The group policy settings for BitLocker startup options are in conflict and cannot be applied. Contact your system administrator for more information." What should I do to resolve this?

Yeah, I get it—being your own system admin can be tough! Just double-check everything, especially in the Group Policy Editor, for any settings that might be causing this conflict. Good luck!

It sounds like you might need to consult with your system administrator for this one. But if it's your personal computer, you are the admin! Just make sure to look into the settings that might have changed with your RAM upgrade—sometimes BIOS or disk settings can affect this.

If you're not taking your laptop out of the house and aren’t worried about losing it, maybe don’t stress too much about BitLocker. But if you want to enable it, try checking the Group Policy Editor for any BitLocker policies that might be blocking you. You might find something there that's preventing activation.
