Should I Build a PC Now or Wait?

I've been dreaming of building my own PC for about six years, and I've finally saved up enough to make it happen. This year seems like the perfect time, but I've seen news reports about PC component prices soaring due to high demand from data centers. I'm wondering if it's worth it to start building a PC now, or if I should wait for prices to drop back to normal levels. Do you think prices will go down once this AI trend settles, or should I expect them to keep climbing? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It's a bit of a tough call! If you have a budget and a specific purpose in mind, that can help. What are you planning to use the PC for? Also, are you open to getting some used parts? That could save you some cash!

Yeah, I'm aiming for about $1200. I need something that can handle Adobe products for photography editing, and I also want to game on it during my downtime. I'm totally fine with used parts too!

Honestly, if you really want to build, you might as well go for it now. It's better to adjust your build according to your budget rather than waiting indefinitely for prices to stabilize.

If you're ready to build and have the funds, I'd say go for it! Waiting won't guarantee any better prices, and who knows what the future holds?

It's hard to say definitively, but with the current demand for data centers and low supply, prices for consumer hardware are likely to stay high for a while. Common sense suggests that they won't normalize soon.

From what I've read, prices are unlikely to come down significantly until at least 2026. So it really depends on how long you're willing to wait to start your build!

Honestly, I don't think it's worth it unless you're looking to build to make money. Otherwise, you might be better off waiting it out.

What? That doesn't make much sense...

I think you might be in the wrong thread here, man.

Prices might drop a bit eventually, but don't expect them to return to pre-shortage levels. After the last Covid shortage, GPUs didn't go back to what they used to be either. If you can afford it, just go for it now!
