Hey everyone! I'm finally in a position to upgrade my old PC, which has been struggling for the last few years and is nearly 6 years old. I've been told my setup isn't great, so I could really use your advice. Here are my current specs:
- CPU: Intel(R) Core (TM) i7-7700 @ 3.60GHz
- RAM: 16 GB
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (8 GB)
I'm running Windows 10 and can't upgrade to Windows 11, which is one of my biggest issues. The system is painfully slow; it takes about 5 minutes to start anything. I play games like Genshin and Overwatch, and I also use Adobe products like After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop, all of which struggle on my current setup.
I have a budget of $1200 and I'm considering selling my current PC and starting fresh, as it's a prebuilt model that was poorly assembled. Let me know if you need more info! Thanks a ton!

Are you near a Microcenter? They usually have great deals and knowledgeable staff that can guide you through building a new setup based on your needs.
If you're considering selling your current PC, you might boost your budget a bit more. Just make sure to assess how much you could get for it before diving into new parts!
I noticed that your PC seems to be running off an HDD, which could definitely explain the slow load times. Upgrading to an SSD would make a huge difference!
Yeah, I just checked, and it is indeed an HDD. How much of a performance boost would I see from switching to an SSD?

That does make sense! I'm not sure how much I could sell it for though. Any ideas on what would be a fair price?
