Which GPU Should I Choose: RX 9070 or RTX 5070?

I'm looking to upgrade my GPU, and I've narrowed it down to two options available at my local store: the RX 9070 for $570 and the RTX 5070 for $550. Currently, I game at 1080p 240Hz, mainly playing shooters like The Finals and Deadlock. I'm also planning to dive into Cyberpunk 2077 and other single-player games. Ray tracing and features like DLSS aren't critical for me, as I prefer playing without them, but I do want to future-proof my setup for 1440p gaming later on. By the way, I currently have a 2070 Super. Any thoughts?

Honestly, I'd suggest the RTX 5070. It's popular for a reason, and at 12GB, it'll still offer solid performance at 1440p in most games, although very demanding ones might require some tweaking.

I get your point, but in games where VRAM is tight, DLSS can help a lot. I enjoy it on my AMD card, but I'm curious about how DLSS works in gaming.

If you're not into DLSS or ray tracing, the 9070's extra performance can really come in handy, especially with its 16GB of VRAM for future-proofing. It's probably the better bet if you’re focusing mostly on gaming.

Exactly! The added VRAM is a big plus if you're aiming for longevity.

I'm in the same situation you are, and I ended up getting the 9070. It's got great raw power and the extra VRAM is nice for future games. Prices are definitely all over the place though!

Yeah, GPU prices are crazy right now! Glad I found a decent deal.

The RX 9070 might be the stronger choice on paper, especially for raster performance. If you stick to 1080p, you'll max out most games with solid frame rates. Even at 1440p, it handles everything pretty well unless you're hitting the most demanding settings. But if you're leaning towards Nvidia due to software or features, the 5070 isn’t a bad pick either.

Thanks for your input! I'm kind of torn because it feels like both cards have their merits, haha.

I've been running the 9070 at 1440p and it performs well for me, mostly maxing out games.
