Seeking Recommendations for a New Gaming PC Build

Hey everyone! I'm looking to replace my old gaming system that's been showing its age after about 9 years. My current setup includes an i5 6600k CPU, Z170s Motherboard, 16GB of RAM, and a GTX 1080 Ti, and I primarily play on an Ultrawide PG348Q monitor at 3440x1440p. I'm aiming to keep using this monitor for at least a year or two before considering an upgrade. I'm aware that it's a tricky time to build a new PC with prices fluctuating, but I have a budget of around $1500. I've heard that Ryzen X3D CPUs are a good option and noticed some appealing bundles at a nearby Micro Center. I could use some advice on selecting a new CPU, motherboard, and graphics card. Thanks in advance for your help!

If you're selling your 1080 Ti at a decent price, that could help with your budget. But for your new build, I’d suggest looking at the RTX 5080 if you're okay with spending more; it really allows you to max out games at high FPS. The 5070 Ti is a solid choice too but might require some compromises. Also, for RAM, try to go for 32GB at 6000mt/s if you can swing it.

Just a heads up, the timing for upgrading isn't the greatest right now due to the high prices on RAM and GPUs thanks to AI companies buying up stock. But if you're set to upgrade, what's your budget looking like?

I'm aiming for about $1500 overall.

I think sticking with a budget around $1500 is wise! For graphics, a 5070 isn't too bad at $550, but if you can find a 5070 Ti for under $1000, that could be worth it. Otherwise, the 9070 XTs are reasonable too, at around $700-800. Make sure to get a good cooler and consider a motherboard like the B850 for good future-proofing without breaking the bank.

Good point about the B850! I’d also recommend getting at least 2TB of Gen4 storage, especially since game sizes are increasing.
