Looking for Recommendations on Stable Employee Activity Tracking Software

Our management is interested in a simple remote work monitoring solution for our development contractors who work on both Windows and Linux systems. I'm responsible for deployment and I need an agent that is easy to use and won't generate a lot of support tickets. We mainly require reliable screenshot monitoring for accountability purposes. I have looked through some reviews for time tracking software, but the main focus for me is the stability and memory footprint of the tool on Linux. Has anyone had experience deploying Monitask in a mixed OS environment?

I totally get the need for accountability, but I'd be cautious about implementing something that feels invasive. Competent management should rely on trust and performance metrics instead. If they're pushing for surveillance, it might reflect more on their leadership than the employees.

Honestly, if I were in your shoes, I'd start updating my résumé. A company that prioritizes spying over trust doesn't seem like a great place to work. Consider how this might impact team morale and recruitment.

It might be worth considering the legal implications of activity tracking in your location. In some areas, such monitoring is strictly regulated or even prohibited. If you're in the US, look into remote schooling software since it offers similar features without the employee monitoring stigma.
