Help! My PC Keeps Crashing Randomly and I Can’t Figure Out Why

I've been dealing with a troubling issue for the past few months – my PC keeps crashing seemingly at random. Here's my setup:
- Motherboard: MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max
- CPU: Ryzen 5 3600X
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB
- GPU: Asus GTX 1660S OC
- PSU: Deepcool PK650D
The crashes occur without any predictable pattern. Sometimes, the screen goes black, but I can still hear audio or use my mic, while other times, I lose audio as well. I often notice a brief red flash before it crashes, but that doesn't happen every time. Whether I'm gaming or my PC is just idling, it can crash at any moment. There are times when it won't crash for a whole week, then suddenly, it'll crash up to 10-12 times in a single day.
I've tried various troubleshooting steps, including stress testing the CPU, running memtest on the RAM, stress testing the GPU, and even swapping out my PSU and RAM. None of these have resolved the issue. I visited a repair shop recently, but they were just as stumped as I am, especially since it only crashed once during testing. They ran tests with OCCT and noted errors related to the CPU and RAM at times, but those might have been due to the testing conditions. I'm really confused and wondering if the motherboard could be the culprit?

I would suggest trying to reinstall your graphics drivers or even rolling back to a previous version. Sometimes, driver issues can cause strange behavior and crashes. Also, check the power cables and connections to your GPU and motherboard; a loose connection can lead to random power loss and crashes.

Yeah, I had weird crashes too, and it was just a loose PSU cable! Easy fix but so annoying to find!

It sounds super frustrating to deal with random crashes like that! It's odd that the repair shop couldn't pinpoint the issue since they tested various components. Have you checked the temperatures of your CPU and GPU? Overheating can sometimes cause random crashes as well. If those components are running hot, it might be worth looking into better cooling solutions or even checking the thermal paste on your CPU. Plus, consider checking for any updated BIOS versions for your motherboard; sometimes those can resolve instability issues.

That's a good point about overheating. I had a similar issue and it turned out I needed to clean out my fans and reapplied thermal paste. Made a huge difference!
