I'm considering upgrading my older 2016 Cybertron prebuilt PC, which currently has a single 16GB DDR4 stick. I have a 16GB SODIMM DDR4 stick from my previous laptop, and I'm thinking about using an adapter to add it to my PC. However, I've heard that these adapters can increase latency and I'm not very experienced with PC building. Would it really be beneficial to use the SODIMM stick in this way?

Mixing different RAM types can be tricky. While it’s possible to use an SO-DIMM adapter, it might lead to issues—your system may not even boot. It’s generally not recommended to mix RAM in this way, especially since it could create more problems than it's worth.

Thanks for the heads-up! Should I just buy a new set of matching RAM instead?
