Upgrading My Old PC for PS5-like Performance

Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my old PC to achieve performance similar to a PS5 without breaking the bank. Here's what I'm working with:

- Intel i5 10400F
- Nvidia GTX 1660 6GB
- 16GB DDR4 3200 RAM (2x8GB)
- 256GB SSD
- 1TB HDD

I've seen the 5070 priced around 800 CAD, which feels a bit steep. I'm wondering if I can just pop in a 5070 GPU or if my CPU would hold it back. Would I also need to upgrade my PSU for a newer GPU, or is it wiser to go for a less powerful but cheaper option like a 4070? Any advice would be appreciated!

Honestly, your CPU is quite limiting. While it’s better than what consoles use, to really capitalize on a powerful GPU like the 5070, you'd probably need something like a 10900K to avoid bottlenecking, especially at higher resolutions.

To get close to PS5 specs, definitely upgrade that GPU. The 5070 or a used RX 6700 can be great bets. You should also consider upgrading to 32GB of DDR4 RAM if possible. For a solid balance, you could pick up a Ryzen 5 5500 with a budget B450 or B550 motherboard.

Make sure to check your total budget! If you're aiming for cost-effectiveness to run games smoothly, you'll want to prioritize the GPU upgrade. If the 5070 is too much, consider looking for a used 4070 or 4070 Super. Your current CPU is better than a PS5 CPU, so you might be fine for now.
