Is Micro Center Worth the Trip for a New PC Build?

I've just bought a Fractal North Mesh case and I'm waiting on a ZOTAC Gaming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB Twin Edge GPU to arrive next weekend. The case is larger than I expected, and I could fit a 3-fan GPU if I wanted, but I'm wondering if going with a 2-fan model is actually a disadvantage. I still need to get everything else to complete my build, from PSU cables to other components, and I'm feeling a bit anxious about mismatched or missing parts. There's a Micro Center about 90 minutes away, but I've never been there. Are they really helpful for someone who hasn't built a PC since around 2000, or is it more like a regular store where they just ring you up and send you on your way? I'm not looking to overclock; I just want to put together a solid system likely using one of their CPU bundles as a base.

Everyone I encountered was knowledgeable and willing to help. They may try to upsell you on things like warranties, but I've always left happy. It’s pretty much my go-to for computer parts now!

From my experience, the staff is really helpful. They actually give you recommendations based on your build and specs. I thought they would upsell me, but I ended up saving money compared to my original plan! Definitely worth the drive if you're serious about building this PC.

Micro Center is awesome! It’s like a classic computer store vibe. The employees there really know their stuff and are super helpful.

This is exactly what I was hoping to hear, thanks!

The Micro Center near me was super helpful; I found some open box discounts that saved me a lot on my previous build. I got high-quality parts for way less than buying new! Planning your build on PC Part Picker is great, and then just get the parts from Micro Center.

Just keep in mind, the employees earn commission, especially on warranties. So while they’re helpful, sometimes they might push plans you don’t really need.
