Help! My Ethernet Controller Is Missing and I Can’t Connect to the Internet

I woke up today and found that my PC isn't connecting to the internet at all. I've tried restarting both my PC and the router, but that didn't help. When I check Device Manager, under Network Adapters, I see an 'Ethernet Controller' listed under 'Other Devices' with an error symbol next to it. I've gone through a few tutorials but haven't had any luck. Can someone assist me with this issue?

Have you tried reinstalling the driver for your Ethernet adapter? That could fix the issue if it's just a driver problem.

If you can, use another computer to create a live OS on a USB drive, like a Linux distro or Hiren's Boot CD. This will help you determine if the Ethernet card is working. If it does work there, the issue might lie with your current Windows installation, possibly due to drivers or a bad update. If it doesn't work with the live OS either, your Ethernet card might be dead, and you'd need to consider a PCIe card or a USB Ethernet adapter.
