Upgrading My Dying GPU and Motherboard with a $1k Budget

My 1080ti, which I've been using for almost 9 years, finally bit the dust yesterday. I'm looking for advice on upgrading both my motherboard and GPU to catch up with modern gaming rigs, while sticking to my $1,000 budget. I'm not very tech-savvy, so I appreciate any help I can get! Here's what I currently have: I'm using an NZXT case, and my motherboard is an MSI B350 PC Mate. I also have a 256GB SSD for Windows, a 2TB HDD, and a 2TB SSD for games. My RAM is 32GB (4x8GB), and I recently got a new CPU that I'm planning to keep for now. Any recommendations?

Check out Microcenter! They have the 9060 XT 16GB for $379.99, and a killer bundle for $600 that includes a 7800X3D processor and 32GB DDR5 RAM. If you live near a Microcenter, that would make for some fantastic upgrades within your budget.

That sounds like a smart option, especially if I want a major performance boost! But I have to think about my recent family addition too!

The 9060 XT 16GB is an awesome card for around $450. If you're looking for something even better, the 9070 XT is usually about $700. If you want to upgrade your motherboard too, that’s where I’d suggest you focus. After getting either of these cards, you’ll still have around $100 left for your motherboard.

Thanks for the info! Which mobo would you recommend that would be compatible?

I got my latest CPU last year, so I’ll hold off on upgrading that for now.

Is upgrading the motherboard really necessary? Unless your current one is failing or lacks the necessary slots, I’d recommend sticking with it for now.

Better VRMs can help with overclocking, but if you’re not planning to do that, it might not be worth the hassle.
