Which Ryzen CPU Should I Choose for My New Gaming PC?

I'm in the process of building a new PC and I'm trying to decide between the Ryzen 7 9700X and the Ryzen 7 7800X3D. The price difference between the two is roughly $21 in my currency. I currently have a Ryzen 5 5500 and an RTX 3060, but I'm upgrading to an RTX 5070 Ti and DDR5 RAM. I mainly play games at 1440p ultra-wide, including titles like Teardown, Roadcraft, GTA V, Battlefield 6, City Skylines 2, Hearts of Iron IV, Microsoft Flight Simulator 24, and Farming Simulator 25. I really appreciate the smooth performance I've had with the Ryzen 5 5500, so I'm looking for advice on which CPU would give me the best experience.

I’d recommend going for the 7800X3D. It has additional cache, which can really boost performance for gaming compared to the 9700X, especially at 1440p. Just make sure your RAM is up to speed!

Stick with the 7800X3D for sure! The performance improvements from its cache will be noticeable in the games you're playing, and DDR5 performance will complement it nicely. What RAM specs are you using?

I have a 32GB kit of Patriot RAM, DDR5, 6000MT/s.

I have the 9700X paired with a 4080 Super and it’s running smoothly at 1440p without any issues. But I just picked up a 7800X3D for my second build with a 5070 Ti. I’ll let you know how that goes! Both choices are solid, honestly.

Thanks for the insight! Looking forward to hearing how the 7800X3D performs.
