I'm having a frustrating issue with my RTX 4090 where it shuts down whenever the core temperature hits around 58 degrees Celsius. This happens regardless of the game or the graphics settings—just a sudden black screen. I initially thought it was thermal throttling, so I cleaned the GPU and replaced the thermal paste and pads. After reassembling, I ran a performance test using OCCT, but it crashed even at normal temperatures—core at 58°C, memory at 55°C, and hotspot at 67°C.
I also tried undervolting the GPU, which reduced power consumption from 450W to 270W, but that didn't solve the issue either. However, when I set the fans to maximum speed, the GPU managed to run the OCCT test without crashing. It seems like the shutdown is linked to reaching that 58°C mark. Does anyone have any insights on what might be causing this issue and whether repairs would be costly? Thanks in advance for your help!

First, make sure to check the hotspot temperature along with the core and memory. It might be more than just the core temp that's affecting it. If they're all in normal range, you might want to explore other causes.
It could be a sagging issue; even a tiny expansion from heat might disrupt connections. Do you use a support bracket to hold the GPU up? It's worth checking if that's doing its job right.
