Hey everyone! I'm looking for some advice on putting together a desktop PC for gaming and work. I'm aiming for a mid-range setup that can handle games at 1440p with decent FPS—I'm not too concerned about having fancy ray tracing effects, just solid performance. I have some old components that I'd like to reuse if it makes sense, so here's what I have:
**Budget:** I'm looking to keep it under 1000€/$1200, but I'm flexible if it means getting better performance.
**Current Hardware:**
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600
- Motherboard: AMD PRIME B350-PLUS Ryzen (AM4)
- No GPU
- 64GB RAM DDR4 3200 C16 (Corsair Vengeance, 4x16GB) - likely to keep unless it's too limiting for mid-range gaming.
- SSD: WD Blue SN550 NVMe 1TB - planning to keep this and maybe add another 1TB SSD.
- PSU: OCZ 600W MXSP (80 Plus) - I'm considering keeping it, but I wonder if it's enough for newer components.
**Looking to buy/replace:**
- CPU and motherboard
- NVIDIA GPU (also need CUDA support and NVENC for video work)
- A silent case with a watercooling system since quiet operation is important to me.
Thanks for the advice!

Just a heads up, the level of gaming performance you can expect at 1440p really depends on what kind of games you plan to play. If you’re going for the latest AAA games at high settings, I’d recommend the RTX 5070, but if you’re okay with lowering some settings for FPS, the 5060 Ti works fine too. Also, I’d suggest replacing your PSU since yours is quite old, and go for one that's rated at least Tier B for reliability. You might save cash by keeping your motherboard and RAM; just make sure to update the BIOS before upgrading your CPU to a Ryzen 5000 series model.
For your CPU upgrade, you could go for a Ryzen 5600 and pair it with a reasonably priced B550 motherboard. For 1440p gaming, consider getting an NVIDIA GPU like the RTX 5060 Ti (16GB) if you're on a tighter budget, or if you want more power, the RTX 5070 is a great option for serious gaming. Additionally, look into a good AIO cooler like the Arctic III Pro 360 or Thermalright 360 for effective cooling. For a case, options like the Montech XR or the Phanteks Eclipse are solid choices.
