Is it a good idea to buy a 14-year-old high-end power supply?

I'm considering purchasing a 14-year-old power supply, specifically the Be Quiet Dark Power Pro 10, which dates back to 2012. The seller is offering it for €40. I'm wondering if it's safe to use this unit in a NAS system, or if this old PSU poses too much risk.

I'd steer clear of a power supply that old, honestly. There's a good chance that even if it still works, it might not provide stable power. For €40, I'd rather invest in something newer, even if it's just a basic model.

It sounds like the PSU was introduced in 2012, but we can’t be sure how long the seller used it. If it were me, I’d probably go for something new, like a System Power 11 for €50. Even if it has a lower 80+ Bronze certification, at least I know it’s reliable.

I’ve heard that electrolytic capacitors in older PSUs can dry out and even explode if they degrade too much. Be Quiet is a reputable brand, but you can never be too careful with something that old!
