Is My Laptop Still Repairable After Water Damage?

Hi everyone, I need some advice. A few days ago, I accidentally spilled a little water on my laptop keyboard while I was watching videos. I didn't use it right after the spill, but I freaked out and tried to dry it with a hairdryer, which I later learned was probably a bad idea because I think it damaged the keyboard. I removed the battery as instructed by a technician I called, but now I'm worried. I can't get it repaired until the shop opens in a few days. I checked the laptop today after reinstalling the battery, and it doesn't turn on. I'm scared it's completely dead, and my dad will be really upset with me. Can anyone tell me if there's any chance my laptop can still be fixed?

If your laptop was exposed to water for several days, it really needed immediate attention to prevent further damage. While removing the battery was a good first step, the heat from the hairdryer likely did more harm than good. The odds don't seem great for recovery at this point, but it might still be salvageable depending on how bad the internal damage is. If the technician can evaluate it soon, you’ll know more then.

I really hope there's a chance! I can't bear the thought of losing it for good.

I hate to say it, but many times, electronics won’t survive significant water intrusion, especially after a few days. If there’s a burnt smell coming from it now, that doesn’t sound promising. I recommend getting it checked out as soon as possible so you know where you stand.

This is such a bummer. I'm hoping for a miracle too!

Honestly, if the battery was reinstalled before it was fully dried out, you might be looking at a tough situation. Even if it's repairable, the longer you wait, the higher the chance of permanent damage. Just wait to see what the repair shop says, but stay prepared for the worst.

Thanks for the heads-up! I’ll try to keep my hopes in check.
