I've been noticing a lot of devices showing the Bitlocker screen lately, which makes me wonder if Microsoft is rolling out BIOS updates on a larger scale. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Just a heads up, Microsoft doesn’t actually handle BIOS updates directly. That’s managed by the hardware vendors. If there's an update, it typically comes through update software provided by them.

True, but if hardware vendors send their updates to Microsoft, those can be distributed through Windows Update when requested.

It's worth noting that BIOS updates are indeed being rolled out via Windows update right now.

From my experience, the volume of BIOS updates for our Dell machines feels as frequent as regular Windows updates these days, and 99% of the time they go smoothly. The only issues we face require a BIOS key.

Yep, we're not using any Dell devices here.

It sounds like you might be referring to the recent secure boot certificate updates. That could explain the Bitlocker prompts you’re seeing.

Yeah, I had a hunch that's what was going on, but I wasn't totally sure.

Looks like they might be pushing those secure boot certificates, which could explain the warnings about Bitlocker during updates.

I'm not disabling secure boot on my devices either. They're managed through Intune.

From what I've seen, both Dell and Lenovo have sent out BIOS updates in just the past week. My test machines check weekly, and I received notices for new BIOS updates on both.

Interesting! We're primarily using HP here.
