Can I Clone My SSD by Temporarily Unplugging Another Drive?

I have a Tomahawk Max motherboard with two SATA slots. One slot is occupied by my C drive, which I want to clone onto a new SSD. The other slot currently has an extra SSD filled with various program files. Since I don't have a third slot available, I'm wondering if it's okay to temporarily unplug the extra SSD to use that slot for cloning, or if that could cause any issues? Should I consider getting a SATA-to-USB adapter instead?

You can safely unplug that extra SSD without causing any issues! Just make sure you're not running any programs off that drive while you clone. Most Tomahawk Max boards actually have 4 to 6 SATA ports, so it’s likely you’ll be fine during the process.

Absolutely, it'll work just fine! Just ensure your cloning software is installed on your Windows drive. Once you finish cloning, plug your new OS drive where the old one was, reconnect your extra drive, and you should be set!

Thanks for the tip! I have Macrium Reflect on my C drive, so I'm all set.
