Why Does My PC Randomly Shut Down While Playing Certain Games?

I've built my PC around 1.5 years ago, and recently I've been experiencing random shutdowns while playing specific games—most notably, Nioh 3 and Romeo is a Dead Man. The shutdowns happen unpredictably; it can occur anywhere from 5 minutes to 2 hours after starting a game. I've tested other games like Battlefield 6 and Tekken 8 without any issues. I've monitored the temperatures, and they all seem normal, with GPU temps around 65 degrees Celsius and CPU temps around 67. I've also reset all my BIOS settings to default except for XMP and performed a clean Windows install, but the problem persists. Should I be looking at replacing my power supply unit (PSU)? Here are my specs:

- Ryzen 7 5700X
- RX 7600XT
- Asus ROG Strix B550-A
- Corsair RM750E
- Kraken 240 cooler

To add to what others said, keep an eye on the logs when the game is running. I also saw errors about unexpected shutdowns in my own logs, which pointed to deeper issues. It’s worth a look before deciding on a new PSU.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll run the games while checking the logs to see if anything unusual comes up.

You should definitely check the Event Viewer in Windows for any error logs right before the crashes. It can be a bit tricky to navigate, but it might reveal what's causing the shutdowns. Look for any warnings or errors that could give you a clue.

I once dealt with similar shutdowns. It turned out that the power cord wasn't fully plugged into the back of the PSU. Just double-check all your connections to ensure everything's snug. Sometimes it can be that simple!
