I'm almost finished building my first PC in a decade, but I can't decide between the 5070TI and the 9070XT graphics cards. I'm aiming for an all-white build primarily for gaming at 1080p, with plans to upgrade to 1440p in the future. My goal is to create a system that lasts at least 7 years and remains relatively cool to avoid overheating issues.
There's so much conflicting information online about these two GPUs. Many argue that the 5070TI, priced around $1,000, is worth it because it has better DLSS performance, a current RE9 bundle, potentially longer driver support, cooler operation, and better resale value. However, the steep price increase feels unjustifiable compared to AMD's offerings.
On the other hand, the 9070XT offers similar performance but at a significantly lower cost, along with better Linux compatibility for dual-booting. However, it has less resale value, might run hotter based on benchmarks, and shorter driver support compared to the 5070TI, plus Nvidia has a certain prestige that AMD lacks.
So, my main question is: does it make sense to go for the 5070TI over the 9070XT for a long-term build, considering the much higher price, or should I invest in the cheaper option now before prices increase further? My budget is around $2,500, but I can stretch it a bit if necessary. For reference, here's my tentative build: [build link]. I'm also looking to get this case and fans: [case link] and [fan link].

Honestly, if you’re planning to keep the build for 7 years, the 5070TI might be the safer bet. Nvidia tends to offer better long-term support and features. Just keep in mind the higher price—just ask yourself if you think it's worth it for the next several years.
Have you checked local retail prices? I found a 5070TI at Walmart for $749.99 recently. Not all places will have it, but it might be worth a call if you can save some cash!
I get that the Nvidia features are tempting, but if you're just gaming and don't really use ray tracing or fancy tech, the 9070XT is a solid choice. It’ll give you great performance while saving you money, which you could invest elsewhere in your build.
Both cards are powerful enough for 1080p and can handle 1440p easily, so you wouldn't be going wrong either way. You might want to compare benchmarks for the games you play the most since some run better on Nvidia and others on AMD. In terms of value, I think the 9070XT has the edge right now.
Exactly. Plus, you might not care about resale value if you’re keeping the build for a long time. Make sure to check how both perform with the games you like!
I'd definitely lean towards the 9070XT. You're getting the same performance for a lot less money. DLSS is nice, but the price difference isn't worth it for most gamers. Plus, it's easier on the wallet!

That's a fair point, but I've noticed AMD really dropping the ball lately on driver support and updates. If you want peace of mind in the long run, 5070TI might be the way to go.
