Advice Needed on Choosing a New Power Supply Unit

I'm looking for some advice on replacing my power supply unit (PSU) for the second time. My current setup includes a Ryzen 7 3700x processor, 16GB of RAM at 3200Mhz, and an RTX 3070 graphics card paired with dual monitors. Previously, I used an Aigo 650W Bronze PSU and a Coolermaster 750W Gold PSU. Unfortunately, the 750W caused intermittent black screens while gaming, so I'm on the hunt for a better option. I'm considering several 850W PSUs available at my local store, including the Aorus Elite P850W (80Plus Platinum), Asus PRIME 850W (80Plus Gold), Gigabyte 850W (80Plus Gold), MSI MAG A850GL, and Thermaltake Toughpower GT 850W. The Thermaltake is notably cheaper than the others, but I've heard some negative reviews. Which one do you recommend?

First, it’s worth noting why you're replacing it again. Was the previous one faulty? If the 750W was causing black screens, I’d be careful about the quality of the next one. For your needs, the MSI MAG A850GL or Aorus Elite would be solid picks. Just make sure you check their reviews and ratings before committing.

Honestly, all of these options should be fine, but if you’re planning for future upgrades, an 850W will keep you covered. The Aorus Elite is a bit pricier but offers great reliability. Just check for all the needed ports.

A good PSU tier list is essential! Look for ones rated B or above. This will guide you to quality brands. Also, make sure it has enough PCIe and 12VHPW connections you might need. The 850W seems a bit overkill, but if you plan on upgrading in the future, it’s a safe choice.

While 80 Plus Gold ratings are good for efficiency, be wary of assuming they're all safe. Some brands, like Thermaltake, might have specific models that aren’t reliable. It’s best to do thorough research beyond just the certification.
