Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my PC because it's struggling with video editing—render times are painfully slow. I also need more storage and want a smoother streaming experience. Here's my current setup:
- **Motherboard:** Gigabyte B550 AORUS ELITE
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
- **Cooler:** Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition
- **RAM:** Corsair Vengeance LPX - 16 GB
- **SSD:** 2 x Kingston NV1 - 1 TB
- **Graphics Card:** ASUS Radeon RX 6600 XT
- **PSU:** Corsair TX550M - 550 Watt
- **Case:** Fractal Design Meshify C
My budget is around 1500 euros. I've asked my PC builder for advice, and he suggested that a worthwhile upgrade would actually cost about 2000 euros and that I should consider getting a new PC altogether. He also mentioned that my case might be too small for new parts. Does anyone here think upgrades are possible within my budget, or should I really look at getting a whole new setup?

You can definitely upgrade within your budget of 1500 euros! You might be able to keep your existing case, cooler, and storage drives. A good plan would be to upgrade your PSU, CPU/Motherboard/RAM, and GPU. Not necessarily a full new build if you don't want to! I'll look into pricing options in your region and get back to you.
Your builder isn't entirely wrong, but it's worth thinking about a few things. If you get a new CPU, usually a new motherboard is needed too, especially if you're looking into the latest chipsets. I hear Intel is great for video editing, but new AMD chips are pretty solid too. Also, consider upgrading your GPU as it's key for editing. Look for options with more VRAM—should really help out your workflow! Plus, an NVMe SSD with high read speeds will speed up your editing process. Just make sure your new motherboard has enough storage slots!
Thanks for all that info! I want to stick with upgrading instead of a full new build, so I’ll check for parts that match what you suggested. Quick question—how can I tell if a part is actually an upgrade from what I have?
Thanks for the advice! If I can upgrade instead of getting a whole new build, that would be awesome!
