I work in IT at a medium-sized tech company, and my manager has asked me to develop a proposal for standing desks for our team of about 30 people. Currently, the only way to obtain a standing desk is through HR or by purchasing one individually, so we're looking to implement a proper setup for the whole department. I'm in search of reliable standing desk brands that are sturdy, well-made, and reasonably priced. Additionally, if anyone can recommend vendors that provide bulk order discounts or corporate pricing, I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm also interested in hearing how standing desks have affected the productivity of other teams, particularly those that spend long hours sitting. I need to get this proposal together quickly, so any suggestions would be super helpful. Thanks!

I’d be careful about buying standing desks for everyone. Not everyone wants one! Maybe consider having one demo desk for people to try out. At my old job, they bought a bunch, but most people only used them once or twice a week. Some didn’t use them at all. A guy even raised his desk to the max height and camped under it with his chair just to store junk!
I switched to a standing desk and it really made a difference for my back issues. But the key is, people need to want to use them. I find that being able to adjust the desk helps with my posture, especially during long coding sessions. One thing that worked for us was ordering the SmartDesk 2 in bulk; Auto offered a great discount when we ordered over 20 units. It came with cable trays, which our IT team really appreciated!
Exactly! No one's standing for 8 hours straight, but having the option helps with those long bug-fixing sessions or meetings. It surprised me how motivated tall folks felt to use it during standups.
Standing desks might not boost productivity across the board, but they do contribute to better health and posture. I suggest asking your team who would actually use them before diving in. It’s also a good idea to have a couple as demo stations for those undecided, so they can try it before you make a larger investment.
Standing desks are more than just for standing; they really help create a comfortable workspace. I've personally adjusted mine to elbow height while sitting, which has improved my ergonomics a lot. It’s important to have adjustable options because not all of us stand or sit the same way. People appreciate having the flexibility to adjust their workspace based on their preferences.
I love my FlexiSpot desk with the bamboo top. It’s sturdy and has held up for years! It’s got a great motor and adjusts smoothly. I also had a fantastic experience with their customer service when I made an order mistake. They were really helpful, and my desks still function like new after three years!
Yeah, I’ve seen similar situations. Surveys can help figure out who actually wants them, and then maybe just buy a few extras for those who are unsure.
