I have a local backup file for my iPhone that's on an older iOS version (26.2.1), and I want to restore it to my iPhone that has iOS 26.3. I'm having trouble with this because I really need the information in that backup, especially my WhatsApp data. Since Apple stopped signing 26.2.1, I'm not sure how to proceed. Can anyone help?

Typically, you can restore an iOS backup to the same or a newer iOS version, but it looks like you're getting an error because your backup is for an older version than what's installed on your phone. Have you tried checking if the backup file is corrupt or if you've got the right setup? You might also want to see if there's a way to extract the data directly from the backup using third-party tools.
It sounds like you understand the version constraints, but since the backup isn't compatible, your best bet might be to look for software that can extract specific data from that backup. There are programs out there designed to help you retrieve WhatsApp messages without needing to completely restore the backup.
