My computer just completely froze, and I've been working on a Word document for over two days without saving it. I'm terrified that if I have to turn it off, I'll lose everything! Does anyone have tips on how to recover my work without losing my progress?

Honestly, if it’s frozen and you didn’t setup autosave, it might be rough. If you force a shut down, when you turn it back on, Word will typically ask if you want to recover unsaved files. You might lose a little time, but it’s better than losing it all!

You can check if there's an autosave feature in Word by going to File > Info > Manage Document > Recover Unsaved Documents. That might save you!

First, try Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open Task Manager. If Word is still running, wait it out. If not, don’t hard shut down just yet. You can try ending other tasks. If that fails, reboot your computer, and cross your fingers that Word recovers your doc!

Before you restart, just double-check to see if it's really frozen. Maybe try Ctrl+Alt+Delete to bring up the task manager. Also, check your USB connections for your keyboard and mouse; you might regain control without a restart!

And hey, don’t forget to save regularly in the future! Ctrl + S every few minutes can be a lifesaver. Let this be a lesson learned!
